Hoya elliptica is a rare climbing plant native to the lush, tropical riverine forests of Southeast Asia, including Thailand, Malaysia, and the Philippines. These regions provide the ideal backdrop of humid warmth and dappled light that this plant loves. The plants we offer are 1-year-old cuttings, ready to thrive in your collection.
Hoya elliptica prefers bright, indirect light but can handle lower light conditions. Keep it in extremely well-draining soil, like a mix with orchid bark and perlite, to prevent root rot. It thrives in higher humidity, allowing the soil to dry out between waterings, especially letting it rest a bit more during winter. Itâs sensitive to cold, so keep temperatures above 10° C (50° F).
The defining feature of Hoya elliptica is its thick, elliptical leaves adorned with a pale, shield-like vein pattern. When exposed to light, these leaves can sun-stress, showcasing unique color variations. Mature plants offer clusters of fragrant white-red star-shaped flowers. Collectors appreciate it for its leathery, textured foliage and scented blooms, which transform any space into a living art piece.
We offer free tracked worldwide shipping for all orders above $100. Just choose "Free Shipping"Â as the shipping form during checkout.
It is possible to order a phytosanitary certificate for your order. The cost is $20 per order, regardless of the quantity of the plants. You can choose to include one in the checkout when choosing the shipping method.
Issuing the certificate may delay the shipping by up to 2 weeks. We will inform you about the shipping via e-mail.
Please note all plants are shipped with neither the pot nor the soil to prevent any damage to the plants and to comply with worldwide import regulations regarding soil. We sometimes cut the leaves as well to ensure a safer transit for the plant.
