Euphorbia viguieri var. vilanandrensis comes from the unique limestone cliffs of northern and central Madagascar. It thrives in a specific region near the village of Vilanandrano, known for its seasonally dry tropics. Because it only grows in these special areas, its range is very limited, making it a rare find.
This succulent needs plenty of bright to full sun exposure. It likes extremely well-draining, gritty soil, so think about using a mix that includes coarse sand or pumice. Water it deeply but let the soil dry out between waterings, to keep the roots healthy and avoid rot. It's sensitive to frost, so keep it safe from cold in temperatures below 10° C (50° F). For those in cooler places, it can grow happily indoors by a sunny window. Be cautious: the sap is toxic and can irritate your skin and eyes.
Euphorbia viguieri var. vilanandrensis is visually striking with its spiny, green stems and lush, green leaves that have a red base and white veins. The bright red floral bracts add an eye-catching accent. It stands out not just because of its appeal but also due to its rarity and unique habitat, making it a prized possession for succulent enthusiasts.
