Adenia pechuelii hails from the rocky, arid stretches of Southern Africa. Native to these desert environments, it often positions itself among rock crevices. This smart habitat choice helps it conserve moisture in otherwise harsh conditions. The plants you’ll find with us are young, 1-year-old seedlings, ready to start their journey in your collection.
This plant loves bright light for its foliage, but be kind to its caudex by keeping it shaded to avoid sunburn. Warm temperatures between 20°C and 30°C (68°F to 86°F) suit it best. Water it regularly but wait for the soil to dry out between waterings, especially if you live in a humid area. In winter, it doesn't need much water, so dial back to once a month and keep temperatures above 10°C (50°F).
Adenia pechuelii is especially prized for its large, grey-green, swollen caudex. This feature makes it a standout among succulents and a must-have for serious collectors. Its slow growth and unique appearance make it a showstopper in any collection. While it lacks specific historical tales of its own, its place in the Adenia genus hints at a rich botanic lineage.
