Commiphora mildbraedii hails from the dry scrublands of eastern Africa, with Kenya being its primary home. This rare succulent shrub thrives in arid climates and is a distinctive find for collectors. Commercial availability is limited, making it a sought-after species for those who appreciate unique plant forms.
Give your Commiphora mildbraedii full sun to help it grow optimally and to enhance its bark coloration. Plant it in well-draining soil, ideally a gritty mix, to mimic its natural environment. Water sparingly, allowing the soil to fully dry out between sessions. This plant is sensitive to frost, so keep it in a frost-free environment. Aim for temperatures above 10° C (50° F) to keep it comfortable.
The standout feature of Commiphora mildbraedii is its papery, exfoliating bark that peels in layers of whitish-yellow. Its lance-shaped green leaves combined with a thickened base make it resemble a miniature tree. Its sculptural, bonsai-like form makes it appealing for container gardening. Not only does it have a great look, but the genus Commiphora is also known for its aromatic resins, adding an extra layer of intrigue for plant lovers who enjoy botanical history.
We offer free tracked worldwide shipping for all orders above $100. Just choose "Free Shipping"Â as the shipping form during checkout.
It is possible to order a phytosanitary certificate for your order. The cost is $20 per order, regardless of the quantity of the plants. You can choose to include one in the checkout when choosing the shipping method.
Issuing the certificate may delay the shipping by up to 2 weeks. We will inform you about the shipping via e-mail.
Please note all plants are shipped with neither the pot nor the soil to prevent any damage to the plants and to comply with worldwide import regulations regarding soil. We sometimes cut the leaves as well to ensure a safer transit for the plant.
