Boswellia popoviana, known for its striking red flowers, hails exclusively from the Socotra archipelago in Yemen. This UNESCO World Heritage Site is celebrated for its rare and unique plant life. The seedlings we provide are 1-year-old and come from this rare environment.
This plant thrives in bright, direct light and is perfectly comfortable with temperatures staying above 10°C (50°F). During its growing season, water thoroughly about once a week, allowing the soil to dry completely between waterings. In the winter, its growth slows down and it prefers less water, only about once a month. It can drop its leaves in winter, but don't stressâthey'll grow back in spring.
What sets Boswellia popoviana apart is its caudex-like base, succulent leaves, and those rare and vibrant red flowers that are a rarity in the Boswellia genus. This plant not only stands out for its exotic origin but also for its drought-resilient nature and ornamental beauty, making it a coveted piece for any serious collector.
