Pseudosmodingium barkleyi is a unique succulent native to the tropical dry forests of Guerrero, Mexico. It thrives on karstic limestone soils, making it a rare find. The limited wild populations face threats from agricultural activities and habitat development, adding to its scarcity.
This plant needs strict temperature management, always staying above 10° C (50° F). It's drought-tolerant, so water weekly during the growing season, ensuring the soil dries out in between. In winter, reduce watering to once a month, as the plant goes dormant. The plant enjoys playing in the sun and does best in direct sunlight all year.
Pseudosmodingium barkleyi stands out with its potential to become a shrub or small tree with thick branches. It has leaves that can cause dermatitis, so handle with care. Known locally as "hincha huevos," it has fascinating historical uses that mix medicinal benefits and hazards. This plant sheds its leaves in winter and sprouts new ones in spring. Collectors who specialize in rare Anacardiaceae or caudiciform plants find it quite appealing.
We offer free tracked worldwide shipping for all orders above $100. Just choose "Free Shipping"Â as the shipping form during checkout.
