Macrozamia moorei is a rare gem from central Queensland, Australia. Found especially around Springsure, this plant has an extremely limited natural range. Known for its slow-growing habit, it can take decades to reach maturity, making it a real collector's piece. Our offerings are 1-year-old seedlings waiting to grow into stunning specimens.
Macrozamia moorei loves direct sunlight, needing 6 or more hours each day. Plant it in well-draining loamy soil and let the soil dry out completely between waterings. It's moderately frost-tolerant and thrives in subtropical to Mediterranean climates. Temperatures should remain above 10°C (50°F). Use a 10-10-10 NPK fertilizer sparingly during active growth to keep it healthy.
This plant stands out with a columnar trunk and a dense crown of arching blue-green leaves, reaching up to 8 meters tall. Its large, woody cones are unusual among common succulents and produce bright orange-red seeds. These unique features, paired with its slow growth and scarcity, make it highly prized among plant enthusiasts. Despite technically not being a succulent, its drought tolerance and striking look make it popular in the rare succulent market.
