Adenium swazicum is a rare succulent from the lowveld woodlands of southern Africa. It thrives in regions like Swaziland (Eswatini), northern KwaZulu-Natal, Mpumalanga in South Africa, Mozambique, and Zimbabwe. It grows in sandy and brackish flats, mostly at altitudes between 300 and 400 meters, making it a rare find and a prized addition for succulent enthusiasts.
Adenium swazicum loves bright, direct sunlight, ideally getting 8 hours or more each day. It does well in warm conditions around 25°C (77°F) with low humidity of about 30%. Use well-draining sandy soil and water sparingly, allowing the soil to almost completely dry out before watering again. During its dormancy in cooler months, cut back on watering. It tolerates full desert sun and can survive short spells of freezing temperatures as long as it stays dry. For the best growth and blooms, fertilize monthly with a low-nitrogen, high-phosphorus, and potassium formula.
Adenium swazicum stands out with its thick, swollen trunk resembling a miniature baobab tree. The smooth grey bark and glossy green leaves clustered at the ends of its branches add to its unique appearance. During bloom, it produces impressive clusters of flowers that make it a standout specimen for collectors who appreciate rare and distinct succulents.
