Hoya erythrina is a rare epiphyte native to Vietnam and Peninsula Malaysia, with occasional reports in Thailand. This plant is a find for collectors thanks to its limited distribution and specific growing needs. We offer 1-year-old cuttings that originate from these exotic locations.
This plant thrives in warm, bright conditions with a touch of humidity. It prefers temperatures above 15° C (59° F). Unlike many succulents, it appreciates some humidity and can handle slightly cooler environments. Ensure the soil drains well to prevent waterlogging. Water it deeply once a week during its growth season and let the soil dry fully before the next watering. During winter, reduce watering to once a month and keep the temperature above 13° C (55° F).
The deep green leaves with stunning maroon or pink undersides and distinct pink markings are a visual treat. But it doesn't stop there. The buttery yellow flowers form curious convex umbels, adding an extra layer of intrigue. When exposed to sunlight, the leaves can turn a captivating red, making it not just a plant but a living art piece. It's this ability to change color that makes Hoya erythrina a collector's dream.
