Cycas siamensis, also known as the Siamese Cycad, hails from the subtropical dry forests of Thailand, Laos, Vietnam, and Myanmar. This ancient plant thrives in regions with open deciduous forests, sharing its habitat with towering Dipterocarpus trees. Though vulnerable due to habitat loss, its compact elegance makes it a sought-after addition to any collection. The plants we offer are 1-year-old seedlings.
This cycad enjoys bright, indirect light and prefers loamy, well-draining soil. Keep the humidity high by misting it regularly. Different from other succulents, it likes consistent moisture. Avoid waterlogging though. Use a balanced 10-10-10 fertilizer to support its slow growth. Also, keep the plant warm, as it doesn't like the cold. It should remain in conditions above 15°C (59°F).
Cycas siamensis stands out with its stiff, feathery fronds and blue-green hues in some varieties. With its rugged trunk and perfectly symmetrical crown, it’s perfect for tropical-themed spaces. Smaller than the more common Cycas revoluta, it offers a rare glimpse into ancient plant lineages. Its slow growth and ecological importance add to its allure for plant enthusiasts.
