Bursera fagaroides, also known as the Elephant Tree, naturally thrives in arid regions of Mexico and the southwestern United States, including the Sonoran Desert and parts of Arizona. It's ideally suited for these dry climates, making it a robust addition to your plant collection. The varieties we offer are mature and range from 20 to 40 years old.
This plant is built for low maintenance. It prefers full sun to partial shade and needs well-draining soil. During the growing season, water it thoroughly and let the soil dry out completely before the next session. In winter, cut back to watering once every 2-3 months. With a touch of hardiness, it can handle light frost and prefers temperatures above 10°C (50°F).
Bursera fagaroides stands out with its twisted, peeling bark showing a distinctive red hue, often likened to elephant skin. This unique visual feature makes it an ornamental highlight. Though it can reach up to 10 meters naturally, it's typically kept smaller when cultivated, allowing it to fit neatly into any collection. In late spring to early summer, it blooms with small white flowers that have a touch of yellow, adding a subtle charm to its appearance.
We offer free tracked worldwide shipping for all orders above $100. Just choose "Free Shipping"Â as the shipping form during checkout.
It is possible to order a phytosanitary certificate for your order. The cost is $20 per order, regardless of the quantity of the plants. You can choose to include one in the checkout when choosing the shipping method.
Issuing the certificate may delay the shipping by up to 2 weeks. We will inform you about the shipping via e-mail.
Please note all plants are shipped with neither the pot nor the soil to prevent any damage to the plants and to comply with worldwide import regulations regarding soil. We sometimes cut the leaves as well to ensure a safer transit for the plant.
