Euphorbia sp. Cape Guardafui comes from the rocky terrains of Eastern Africa, specifically near Cape Guardafui. This tough plant has adapted to the arid conditions there, explaining its resilience and unique appeal to collectors. Its rarity is due to a limited natural habitat and the care needed for cultivation.
This succulent thrives with at least 6 hours of bright sunlight each day, so place it where sunshine is plentiful. It prefers fast-draining sandy soil, similar to what it would have in its native land. Water deeply but infrequently to replicate its strict drought cycles, letting the soil dry completely between waterings. During the cooler months, reduce watering even further as the plant becomes dormant. Keep temperatures above 13° C (55° F) at all times to avoid stress.
The Euphorbia sp. Cape Guardafui features cactus-like spiny stems that add a striking look to any collection. It blooms with seasonal yellow flowers, typical of the Euphorbia family. Its rarity and the unique process of grafting to produce healthy plants make it a sought-after addition for enthusiasts. Limited availability due to slow growth adds to its allure.
