Adenium dhofarense, a rare succulent shrub, is native to the coastal desert regions of southern Oman and eastern Yemen. This plant is a standout due to its highly specialized habitat needs and limited natural range. It thrives in arid zones, making it a unique find for those interested in exotic plant life. Our offering is a mature plant that has been carefully imported to ensure authenticity and quality.
Adenium dhofarense thrives in full sunlight and loves warmth, preferring temperatures that are consistently above 24° C (75° F) during its growth season. Use a well-draining medium like pumice or coco coir mixed with pumice to avoid root rot. During the winter months, the plant goes dormant and needs dry conditions, with temperatures maintained above 15° C (59° F). During this time, it requires no watering, so let it rest till the growth cycle kicks back in.
The Adenium dhofarense stands out with its thick, bonsai-like swollen trunk known as a caudex, which beautifully stores water. Its leathery leaves are perfectly adapted to endure extreme heat. The plant produces striking trumpet-shaped flowers in shades of pink to red that are not only a visual delight but also a magnet for pollinators. Its sculptural form and ability to thrive in drought conditions make it a collector's dream and a great choice for bonsai projects.
